MY BACKGROUND

Josh Arden MChiro D.C MSKMedDip PGCert MRCC

I grew up in Stroud and discovered chiropractic care through my years playing rugby for Cheltenham RFC. That experience led me to study at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, where I completed my Master's degree in Chiropractic.

Since graduating in 2015, I have worked in private practice, with a particular interest in Acute/Chronic neck and back pain, sports injuries and exercise rehabilitation.

My approach brings together clinical assessment, hands-on care where appropriate and progressive exercise and rehabilitation. I take time to understand your symptoms, daily demands and goals, and lifestyle, so your plan fits the activities that matter to you.

Running, strength training, crossfit, triathlons and endurance events have shaped my interest in helping people return to activity and build confidence in their bodies. You do not need to be an athlete to benefit from this approach.

I have evolved the way I approach helping people with their musculoskeletal conditions throughout my career. Not just looking at the symptoms in isolation, but looking at the wider picture, about what and how many lifestyle factors influence peoples pain. These factors include diet, sleep, stress, work, exercise and many lifestyle aspects that can promote pain.

I am registered with the General Chiropractic Council and am a member of the British Chiropractic Association and Royal College of Chiropractors.

I currently practice at The Dyer Street Clinic in Cirencester. To arrange an appointment, use the booking and contact information below and ask to see Josh Arden.

HOW I CAN HELP

My version of Chiropractic and How I Work

1. Understand your symptoms
We start with a detailed conversation about your symptoms, health, daily life and goals, followed by an assessment. I explain the findings and whether further investigation or referral is needed.

2. Agree a plan together
We discuss your options thoroughly and choose a practical approach that fits your needs. This may include advice, hands-on treatment and an individual exercise programme. There is time to ask questions and understand the next steps.

3. Build confidence with movement
Your management plan starts at a level you can manage and progresses around your response. Exercises fit your current ability, routine and available equipment. Where useful, strength and movement tests help us monitor change.

4. Review and support your progress
We review what is helping and adjust your plan as needed. The aim is to build your confidence, support a return to the activities you value and give you practical ways to manage your health between appointments and beyond.

5. I put a big emphasis on educating and informing people not just about the pain/problem they are experiencing but also about sustainable changes they can make to lifestyle to reduce changes of reoccurrence and to help make positive changes to prolong general health.

CONDITIONS AND TREATMENTS

NECK AND BACK PAIN

Neck and back pain are some of the most common musculoskeletal conditions people suffer from. They can affect work, sleep, exercise and everyday life, causing people significant disability.

I assess both recent and persistent symptoms, including sciatica, to understand your difficulties and identify whether further investigation or referral is needed.

The cause of neck and back pain is multi-factorial, whilst there is often a physical event that can trigger it, there is a host of lifestyle related contributors that patients and clinicians often overlook.

Your plan may combine practical advice, activity guidance, progressive exercise and hands-on treatment where appropriate. For low back pain, NICE recommends considering manual therapy as part of a treatment package that includes exercise.

We review how you respond and adapt your management plan and rehabilitation around the activities you want to return to.

SPORTS INJURIES & REHABILITATION

An injury can interrupt training and make returning to sport feel uncertain. I assess your symptoms alongside the demands of your activity, including relevant movement, strength and functional tests.

We build an individual rehabilitation plan, progressing strength and activity tolerance before introducing the running, jumping or sport-specific work your goals require.

Your programme is adjusted around your response, training schedule and equipment. We use agreed goals and repeatable measures to review progress and guide the next step.

The aim is to support a confident return to activity and help you manage your training over the longer term.
